Brand Strategy Director 


This is a full time and permanent role to lead brand strategy projects across Emperor and as part of a growing team. The brand offer is being developed and shaped and you will be integral to that process.

Our clients are predominantly B2B. We’re looking for someone who can lead research from multiple inputs, identify key insights and make hypotheses. A creative writer, distilling complex thoughts into clear and compelling narratives. Ability to take clients and colleagues with them, as well as challenging their thought processes, where appropriate.

You will take the strategic lead in pitch meetings and lead multidisciplinary teams to identify client needs, articulate the brand, develop recommendations and drive action  that achieves business goals for our clients. You must have proven experience leading large, complex projects with executive business acumen, meet challenges head-on and proactively solving them.

This person needs to be quick thinker, able to evaluate fast and demonstrate understanding and solutions under pressure. They will develop findings and translate them into brand positionings and strategic recommendations.

Understanding of employee engagement and advocacy when it comes to embedding a brand positioning is key. Able to work closely and collaborate with our employee experience team on client work.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Advocates for brand consultancy to the rest of the agency.
  • Contributes to grow practice.
  • Leads thought leadership, including writing articles to publish.
  • On the pulse of global trends impacting brands.
  • Able to analyse data to reveal key insights.
  • Brief design teams to bring strategy to life.
  • Critique of creative work to make sure it’s reflective of the strategy.


  • Leading workshops, interviews and desk research.
  • Strategic anchor on projects.
  • Creative counsel throughout design process.
  • Influences client decision making.
  • Leads client meetings and presentations up to C-suite level.
  • Provides strategic counsel to clients.
  • Explores and constantly reviews ways to build on client relationships and farm projects / uncover new projects.

New business:

  • Leads on understanding the category and client point of view.
  • Takes and interrogates client briefs to understand the core challenges.
  • Brief and lead agency team to provide solution for client.
  • Working closely with account management team to agree process to tackle brief.
  • Can lead pitch meetings.

Qualifications / Experience

  • 15 years agency side experience at other leading brand consultancies.
