Infrastructure Engineer

LONDON PREFERABLY

We’re looking for an infrastructure engineer to join our Technical team to help us reliably deliver our hosted solutions.

The role would report to our Head of Infrastructure and would involve working closely with both our internal technical teams and our managed hosting partner. We work primarily in Microsoft Azure, with a few environments in AWS, and have tried and tested processes to deliver both scripted and bespoke setups.

The majority of the websites we deliver are on Umbraco CMS, with the occasional site built on another platform. Experience with Umbraco would be beneficial but is not a requirement.

The Technical Team sits within a wider Digital team, consisting of Strategists, Designers, Project Managers and our Client Support team. Working across teams with varying knowledge of technical terms and processes means that you would need to be a clear communicator, and able to pass on information at the right technical level.

We are always looking for ways to improve our processes and tooling, so there is scope for you to bring ideas and help shape the future of Digital at Emperor.

As an employee-owned business, Emperor has a great and inclusive culture. Teamwork and togetherness play an important role throughout the business and we actively promote wellness, social and charity activities.

  • Database maintenance
  • DNS management
  • SMTP admin
  • Cloudflare setup
  • New/renewing SSLs

Essential skills:

  • Working knowledge of cloud environments, Azure preferable but not required
  • An understanding of Virtual Machines and associated maintenance
  • A good understanding of networking
  • Working knowledge of SSLs (CSRs, private keys etc) and related TLS/Cipher Suites
  • Experience with the tasks required for a website launch, such as DNS changes and deployment processes

A bonus:

  • DevOps knowledge
  • Jira experience
  • An understanding of best-practice security for hosting CMS-driven websites
  • Experience with setup or use of Umbraco CMS
