The expert view on how SRS will take shape – and what it will really mean for companies and reporting.
The UK Sustainability Reporting Standards (SRS) are close on the horizon for companies. Internal alignment, followed by reporting, are expected from firms within the next two years, with the scope likely to capture all those already in the boundaries of existing climate-related reporting.
But despite being around the corner, big questions remain about the realities of regulatory demands, the views of auditors, and how to best meet the financially-minded demands of the standards.
Some of the most pressing issues around UK SRS aren’t on the text of the standards themselves, but what they’ll mean in practice:
- What effect is this going to have on how I communicate on sustainability?
- What do I need to do internally to prepare? Which functions need to be talking to each other?
- How much financial quantification do I truly need?
- And… will UK SRS go ahead at all?
